A/Prof. Thaminda Liyanage completed advanced training in Nephrology and Transplant Medicine at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and obtained his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2012. He then undertook a fellowship in Renal Transplant Medicine at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. He completed a master’s degree in medicine at the University of Sydney in 2015 and his PhD in Nephrology at the University of Sydney in 2018.
He has ongoing involvement in education, research and teaching in the field of Nephrology. He has published multiple research articles in prestigious peer reviewed journals including a landmark publication in “The Lancet” that led to the announcement of a global competition to develop a low-cost dialysis machine by the International Society of Nephrology in 2015. He serves as a research fellow at the George Institute for Global Health, University of Sydney, Australia. His publications have attracted more than 2500 citations to date.
He holds a Staff Specialist position at Armadale Kalamunda Group with the East Metropolitan Health Service and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame in Perth,Western Australia.
